Is Hemp Oil the Same as CBD Oil

Is Hemp Oil the Same as CBD Oil?

Over the past few years, CBD oil has gained popularity as a natural product with numerous health benefits. But with tons of different products in the market with labels of CBD, it can get confusing to distinguish them.

The same happens when it comes to CBD and Hemp oil, as they seem pretty similar. However, they are two completely different things. This post discusses both products and their differences, so read on!

What is CBD Oil?

CBD (cannabidiol) is a chemical compound extracted from the flowers, leaves, stems, and stalks of the plant. The plant is a close relative of the ‘Cannabis Sativa’ plant.

This variety is legal and safe, containing less than 0.3% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive agent that produces the ‘high’) and is grown for industrial use.

CBD is extracted from plants through several methods using ethanol, olive oil, or, most commonly, carbon dioxide. After that, CBD is mixed with a carrier oil to make the final product, CBD oil.

What is Hemp Oil?

Seed oil is a product of seeds. These seeds undergo cold pressing for the extraction of this oil. Oil is rich in heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, and protein and does not contain CBD.

Are Hemp Oil and CBD Oil Similar?

No, they are not. Both oils just have three things in common:

  • They both are oils, and they come from the same plant, hemp.
  • Both oils contain almost no THC.
  • Both products are safe for oral intake and or application on the skin.

How are Hemp Oil and CBD Oil Different?

Hemp oil and CBD oil differ on many levels. Following are a few of their distinguishing features:

Color and Flavor

Hemp oil is dark or clear light-green in color with a nutty flavor. On the other hand, CBD oil is dark brown or gold in color with a grass-like earthy flavor.

CBD content

This is the main feature that sets both oils apart. Hemp oil lacks CBD, making it a non-CBD product. On the other hand, oils contain high levels of cannabidiol.

CBD oil is a natural remedy that commonly serves a wide array of therapeutic and health-related purposes.

Controlling epileptic seizures, relieving pain, treating acne, lowering anxiety, and reducing inflammation are some of the miracles of CBD oil tincture. Moreover, it also shows promising effects in the prevention of diabetes and certain types of cancer.

Contrarily, hemp oil is popular among beauty products for its moisturizing and anti-aging effects, thanks to its healthy fat and vitamin content. It also soothes inflamed skin, making hemp oil helpful for treating atopic dermatitis.

Cost and Availability

You will find CBD oil to be more expensive and not easily available as compared to hemp oil. Typically, oils, ointments, tinctures, and creams are available at pharmacies. Or, you can purchase them from reputable brands online, directly on their website.

On the flip side, hemp oil is cheap and readily available at your local grocery store, online shopping stores, or beauty shops.

Final Thoughts

To sum up, hemp oil is not the same as CBD oil and contains no CBD at all. So before you purchase them, make sure you read the labels correctly and buy the right product according to your needs.
